People ask me, if this was your home what type of patio cover would you build. I always say if this was my home and you can afford it I would go with a structural insulated panel (SIP)  type of cool roof panel and I say that because they are strongest roof panels and they offer a 3 inch thick foam core sandwich that will not allow the heat to transfer though it so it acts just like a Ice Chest does in not allowing the heat into the area like most any other building materials will allow.
