Outdoor living is all the rage today!

Construction building techniques that work elsewhere may not be appropriate in Oklahoma due to its distinctive weather patterns and extremely high winds. In fact, the intensity of Oklahoma's winds is matched by few places worldwide.
Structures are subject to stress from various weather conditions, such as high winds, heavy rainfall, and the buildup of ice or snow. In this region, it's essential to construct buildings capable of withstanding the extremely high wind loads, a factor that should never be underestimated or ignored.
The thickness and the dimensions of poles and beams must match the size of the structure since they are vital for supporting the weight and ensuring the stability of the structure. They not only hold the structure up but also safeguard the structure against uplift from strong winds and heavy snow storms.
Embrace your outdoor space!

The canopy frame is the backbone of any construction, made up of poles and beams that come in different sizes and various different thicknesses. In our projects, we always use well-designed beams that can handle heavier loads and provide dependable support during high winds and snow load events.
We prioritize doing the job right by using engineered materials specifically designed for their purpose, even if it means we may be presenting a higher price to the customer to build it correctly. In Oklahoma, with our strong winds and occasional snow or ice, you need a structure built to last, not hastily constructed with unsuitable building materials.

The poles are single most important part when building any type of structure. That is what does all of the heavy lifting and supports the structure. There are various different types of poles made from different types of building materials. These poles are available in different thicknesses and can withstand various different specifications.
There are various different steel posts that are rolled into its final shape and form that are available in various different colors and sizes as well as lengths. then are steel tubing posts that are available in different gauges such as a 3x3 or 4x4 red primed steel that should be painted
Then there are various different extruded aluminum posts in various different sizes and thicknesses as well as color options. A thick wall aluminum post is normally .125 thickness which is about 1/8" inch thick posts.

The canopy top coverings and its trim add the finishing to touches to any canopy framing members. Different types of canopies require different types of building materials that are available in different thicknesses and color options from various different building materials providers.
While every type of canopy top has its pros and cons, we are custom builders with over thirty years of experience, offering a wide range of materials like steel, aluminum, wood, SIPs, poly, and composites—not just a single option like most builders.
Our offerings are not limited to a single type of building material. We are proficient in utilizing a variety of building materials and often combine them when constructing a particular type of canopy. Let us know your ideas!

With over 35 years of experience in the industry, we have the expertise and knowledge to handle any project, big or small. We always are going to stress the importance of using the proper size of beam and poles.
With the recent weather of heavy snow fall storms. It has left many and numerous carports and patio covers that have collapsed all across the country. This in no way shape of form is to make fun of any others misfortune. It is to expose that there are still a lot of structures that are being sold and are under built for the purpose of which they are intended. That is why we are seeing more and more municipalities that are requiring a build permit but still have a lot of more rural areas that do not require any build requirements. A lot of these structures were built using a lighter weight tubular design. We do not sell nor do we in stall that type of structure.
In this picture included within of a carport collapse, the builder used 4-inch C purlins for a 20ft wide open span for 20ft wide 2-car carport which that building component was only limited up to 12–14-foot open spans depending on the steel wall or the gauge of metal or its thickness. The builder should have used at least 6-inch C- Purlins which has a max open span of 20ft. Most successful builders do not like stretching any building components to its maximum limits. Most of the time they don't want to go over 70 percent of its limits just in case. Plus, the builder only used 4 poles on a freestanding carport which he should have used 6-poles, one poles every 10ft of projection. The builder of this structure failed to meet any standard of a minimum of 20 Pounds Per Square Foot t (PSF) min live load weight limit which is required by standard building code requirements within the State of Oklahoma and the carport failure damaged the vehicles below.
Tuesday Jan 26th of 2026 just after the statewide snowstorm event. We meet a lady in Moore, OK who recently paid a local builder contractor that she had found on Facebook to build her a patio cover recently and it had failed because they built this patio cover up on top of her house roof structure and without any real structural beams within that structure as they just used a "rolled formed lock seam steel type of pole" that was turned sideways and used as an alternative to a real structure beam and it had failed and had collapsed leaving the structure useless and beyond repair. I informed her that was a unconventional way to build any patio cover structure in the first place that is up on her roof and that cross beam was a pole and that should have never been built like that in the first place. Also, they did not meet any local building code requirements whatsoever. Why, because these dudes used a beam that was never meant for that purpose of which it was intended and used as structural beam in the first place. It's a vertical pole and not a horizontal engineered beam and has never been tested or rated to be used for that purpose. It is just a makeshift beam at best, and they would have never gotten away with this build had they been forced to pull the required build permit in the first place. Such outright willingness to avoid the building laws should be punishable in a court of law.
Summary: Inferior construction methods lead to most of these build failures. But those tubular or bent formed tubing carports and barns. It is wrong to sell those flimsy not well-built portable structures to good faith, hardworking and unsuspecting good-hearted people. Most of these structures have little to no snow loads rating to them whatsoever and most building codes requirement are at least a 20 pounds per sq ft live load. I know that larger Cities or municipalities now have enacted a local carport build permits that are effective in keeping them from being used because they don't meet standard building code requirement and would be rejected, but when you get out in the more rule areas where most of these portable building is sold there is not such a build permit oversight to keep these things from being sold. Also, those are the ones who start fly around during a high when events as well.
